We encourage all pets to be microchipped so that lost pets can be returned to their parents. Microchipping is your pet’s permanent ID. We can microchip your pet quickly and easily during any veterinary exam. Anesthesia is not required to place the microchip. We simply insert a tiny microchip with your pet’s contact information under the pet’s skin between the shoulder blades. Although you do not need anesthesia for administration Dr. Deavers is a softy and likes to incorporate the microchips into anesthetic procedures when possible.

If your pet was previously owned by another owner, or if you received your pet from an animal rescue shelter, we can scan your pet to see if they already have a microchip. Most veterinary hospitals, shelters, animal rescues, and animal control facilities have microchip scanners to easily scan a lost pet and return them to their rightful owner.

Please visit the AVMA’s website for more information about microchipping. If you find a lost pet, please don’t hesitate to call our office – You can bring the lost animal in to be scanned to see if he or she has a microchip. You can also go to the Pet Microchip Lookup Website to find the pet’s owner by the microchip number.
