If an unwanted behavior is standing in the way developing a strong, mutually beneficial bond with your pet, we are here to help. With minor behavioral problems, clients are often able to correct the issue by means of reward-based training. However, when more serious problems arise, the behavior may be caused by an underlying health issue. Dr. Deavers and her team will work with you to help your pet overcome bad behavior—for good!
Common reasons for a behavioral consultion with Healing with Heart Veterinary Care include:
- Inappropriate urination or defecation
- Anxiety
- Lack of self-control/lack of obedience
- Aggression
- Destructive habits
- Excessive vocalization/barking
If you are concerned about an unwanted behavior, please call us for a behavior consultation. Please be prepared to discuss the history of your pet’s problem, including when it began, how long it has been occurring, and if you notice specific triggers cause or worsen the problem. Dr. Deavers will give your pet a comprehensive physical exam and may recommend additional testing to rule out underlying health conditions which may be causing the behavior. After the evaluation, we will recommend a plan of action to work on changing the unwanted behavior. We encourage positive based training methods.
